27 lakh houses built so far from Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural
So far 27 lakh houses have been built in the state through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin. At the same time, after getting the approval of 8 lakh new houses, UP will be the first state, where more than 35 lakh houses will be in rural areas. Significantly, CM Yogi Adityanath is very serious about ensuring that every poor person has his own house. That’s why he had written a letter to the Central Government demanding 8,62,767 new houses in the rural areas of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin.
This effort of CM Yogi has been successful. Stamping their demand, the Ministry of Rural Development of the Central Government has approved 8,62,767 new houses and released an amount of 10 thousand crores. All the houses will be ready by March 2024. In such a situation, Uttar Pradesh will be such a state in the whole country where more than 35 lakh houses have been built in the rural areas.
What is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Rural (PMAY-G)
Let us tell you, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) was started on 1 April 2016 to provide housing to the poor through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, before that it was named Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY). The purpose of which is to help the rural people living below the poverty line and provide them permanent housing. For this, the government provides assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh in plains and Rs 1.30 lakh in hilly states.
Who can take advantage
The beneficiaries of the scheme include SC/ST, freed bonded laborers and non-SC/ST categories, widows or next of kin of defense personnel killed in action, ex-servicemen and retired members of paramilitary forces, persons with disabilities and minorities. The beneficiaries will be selected using the housing deprivation parameters in the Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC), 2011 data, which will be verified by the gram sabhas. Please tell, the minimum size of the house will be 25 square meters. The house will include all basic amenities like electricity connection, clean cooking space.

Please tell, you cannot apply directly for the scheme. For this, the data of 2011 Socio Economic Census is used. First of all, the list of beneficiaries is prepared on the basis of the data. In which priority is given to those who are more needy. After this it is sent to the Gram Sabhas for verification. After which a final list is issued.
